Forest School

At Flitwick Pre-School we run ‘forest school’ sessions in our large outdoor area.

Forest School is a unique educational experience that offers every child the opportunity to learn through self directed play and exploration by providing him/her with inspirational and challenging outdoor activities. He/she can explore and experience the natural world through practical activities in the outdoor environment. Children will be given the ability to develop their curiosity, confidence, self-esteem, creativity, empathy, communication, knowledge of the natural environment and ability to assess risk.

Exploring the natural world

Children are given relative freedom to explore and experience the natural world in a relaxed atmosphere gently aided by suitably qualified staff who encourage the children to take part in fun activities which are tailored to each individuals interests and needs.  There are no demands or expectations and the child is the driver both imaginatively and creatively.  Consequently each child develops valuable life skills, working both individually and as a team.

At the heart of the Forest School ethos is the principle of respect for self, each other and the natural world.
