Committee
Being charity run, it is a legal requirement for Flitwick Pre-school to have a committee to ensure governance.
The committee is made up of officer roles and committee members. Members are elected into roles at the committee meetings when there is an allocation required. All committee members undertake DBS checks and appropriate Ofsted clearance prior to any involvement as a member of the committee.
Committee members support the pre-school by meeting once every term to discuss and approve decisions around employment, policy and practice and finances. The committee also work together to organise fundraising opportunities to raise money for the pre-school.
Officer roles:
Chair
The Chair is the ambassador for the charity’s committee. The Chair works closely with the Pre-school Manager and ensures that all agreed actions from committee meetings are carried out and that the committee operates collaboratively in line with guidance of the Charity Commissions.
Treasurer
The Treasurer holds the responsibility of overseeing all finances and informing the committee members of the financial position and expenditure of the charity. As a part of every AGM and committee meeting, the Treasurer provides a written statement and details of accounts.
Secretary
Through an administrative role, the secretary arranges committee meeting agendas and records meeting minutes. Where necessary, the Secretary also holds the responsibility of all written communications on behalf of the committee.
Committee members
Despite not being in designated roles, the committee members play a vital part in the committee through the support they provide and offer to the preschool.
